Visiting the Muybridge Collection

Posted: 10th October 2025

Our Sixth Form Photography students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Muybridge Collection in Kingston, where they were given a guided tour by the collection’s curator.

The visit provided a fascinating insight into the pioneering work of Eadweard Muybridge and his lasting influence on the fields of photography and motion studies. During the tour, students had the opportunity to view a wide range of pieces from Muybridge’s personal collection up close, gaining a deeper understanding of his innovative techniques, unique approach, and artistic vision.

The experience offered valuable context to support their own photographic projects, helping to connect historical influences with their current studies, and sparked thoughtful discussion around themes such as movement, timing, and visual storytelling. A huge thank you to the curator for her time, knowledge and expertise in making the visit so informative for all involved.
