Behind every grade, destination offer and celebration, is an individual story of hard work, determination and ambition. We caught up with some of our Sixth Form students to find out about their achievements, and plans for the future.
Adit
Having achieved exceptional results of A*A*AA in Psychology, Further Maths, Maths and Economics, Adit looks forward to starting his next chapter across the pond at the University of Chicago, one of the top U.S. and global research universities, to read Economics.
Lara
Congratulations to Lara, who achieved A*AA in Psychology, Biology and Drama. She plans to spend her gap year volunteering before beginning a medical degree in 2027.
For Lara, the results she opened today are what she is most proud of from her A Level journey, putting her one step closer to achieving her dream of studying medicine. She credits the Sixth Form’s Preparing for Life programme with helping her grow in confidence and develop valuable skills, including teamwork and public speaking. She also highlights the support of her teachers, who she feels “truly knew her” and understood how she learns best.
Zeynap
With her sights set firmly on Kings College, Zeynep celebrates not only the impressive achievement of AAA, but the offer from her first-choice university, to study Psychology.
Choosing the HCH Sixth Form for her A Level journey was an easy decision for Zeynap – she would benefit from close relationships with teachers who knew her and would help her to achieve her best possible outcomes, the opportunity to study with friends and getting involved with the Preparing for Life Programme and experience new things made an exciting proposition. And, looking back on how the Sixth Form has prepared her for university, Zeynep reflects on how much her self-belief has grown. From delivering presentations to being encouraged to step outside her comfort zone, she feels ready to take her next steps with confidence.
James
James has an exciting future ahead of him, having secured a place at the University of Southampton, to study Economics and Business Management in September 2027. His first stop? A gap year, filled with travelling, obtaining his driver’s license and gaining as much practical experience in the workplace as possible.
He believes the HCH Sixth Form is truly distinctive. From smaller class sizes to an impressive campus, a perfect balance of independence and support, the freedom to grow as an individual and the experiences offered through the Preparing for Life programme – there is no other place like it. Now, he looks forward to the independence, responsibility, freedom and self-agency the next few years will bring him.
Having worked closely on the Fitness strand of our award-winning Preparing for Life Programme, James had the opportunity to work 1:1 with a personal trainer and access the incredible facilities at our sports partner, St Mary’s University. Today, as he celebrates his results and looks to the future, he really can see the link between strong body and strong mind.
Daniel
Celebrating an impressive A*AA in Psychology, Biology and Maths, Daniel is proud and excited to accept an offer to read Marine Biology at Exeter University, a subject he is “incredibly passionate about”.
Daniel joined HCH in Year 10 at the beginning of his GCSE journey, where he found the positive learning style and teaching and learning not only saw his grades improve, but his confidence grew and he formed lifelong friendships. As a result, the HCH Sixth Form was the natural choice. Daniel praised the incredible amount of support and guidance offered by his teachers in the lead up to his A Levels exams, commenting that teachers were always happy to go the extra mile to ensure students were well prepared – from revision sessions and 1:1 interventions to practice papers and coaching.
As he looks back fondly on his HCH journey, Daniel remembers the once in a lifetime trip to the Arctic, and is so pleased he made the decision to stay for Sixth Form. Now, he looks forward to his next adventure, and is excited to meet new people and enjoy university life.
Alex
Congratulations to Alex, who not only celebrates A*BB in English Literature, History and Maths, but achieved 100% in one of the English Literature papers – an exceptional achievement! With offers from three Russell Group universities, Alex must now decide if his next steps will take him to Kings College, Nottingham or Warwick University.
Alex praised his teachers for their extra support in the lead up to the exam period, and looks back fondly at his time in the classroom, filled with hard work, laughter and the positive relationships HCH is well known for. He comments on how the Sixth Form environment has benefitted him, encouraging independence, instilling discipline and inspiring him through education.
Jade
Having achieved A*AC in English Literature, Politics and Computer Science, Jade is now looking forward to her next adventure: studying Politics at SOAS.
Looking back on her time in the HCH Sixth Form, Jade speaks highly of the Sixth Form team and Head of Sixth Form Tessa, who supported her in making informed decisions about her future through careers and university guidance. She also valued the opportunities available to strengthen her personal statement, including her role as a Sixth Form Student Leader. Through this, she developed project management, organisation and people management skills that she will carry with her to university and beyond.
Eesa
After achieving AAA in Maths, Biology and Chemistry, Eesa has his sights set firmly on a career in dentistry and proudly accepts his first-choice offer to study at Newcastle University, one of the UK’s top rated research universities and a founding member of the Russell Group.
