A Warm Welcome to Our New Families

Posted: 7th September 2026

A great start to the school year begins before the first lesson.

On Sunday, we were delighted to welcome our newest families to Hampton Court House for our annual New Joiners’ BBQ – a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, meet members of our wider staff community and visit tutor rooms, while most importantly beginning to build friendships ahead of the new school year.

For many of our new students, it was their first opportunity to meet classmates and begin getting to know the people and place that will soon become such an important part of their everyday lives. It was fantastic to see families chatting, students getting to know one another and the HCH community already beginning to take shape.

The BBQ is an important part of our approach to transition. At HCH, we place a strong emphasis on making the move into a new school as smooth, positive and effective as possible. We want every student – whether joining us for the first time or returning for another year – to feel known, welcomed and part of our community from day one.

This focus continued on Monday, when the whole school took part in a full day off timetable dedicated to team-building activities and House Games. Designed to bring students together, strengthen relationships and build confidence, the day provided a fun and purposeful start to the academic year.

By investing time in relationships, connection and confidence before the usual timetable begins, we hope to give every student the strongest possible foundation for a happy, successful and fulfilling year at Hampton Court House.

A huge thank you to all our new families for joining us on Sunday, and to our students and staff for making the start of the new academic year such a positive one.

Welcome to HCH, we are so pleased to have you as part of our community!
