Careers education is thoughtfully embedded throughout the school, guiding students to discover their strengths, aspirations and sense of purpose. From the early years of secondary school through to Sixth Form, students are supported to develop self-awareness, confidence and gain an informed understanding of the world of work.
Through the PSHE programme, students explore careers and employability skills in a progressive and age-appropriate way. Pupils develop an understanding of their own interests and strengths, explore entrepreneurship and workplace skills, and learn about topics including career pathways, interview preparation, workplace rights and responsibilities, health and safety, and trade unions. In Prep, Year 6 pupils also take part in an enterprise project with Young Enterprise, encouraging creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial thinking from an early age.
Careers education extends far beyond the classroom. Each academic department hosts a dedicated subject week throughout the year, highlighting the wide range of career opportunities linked to their discipline and helping students make meaningful connections between their studies and future pathways.
The programme also combines personalised guidance, careers workshops, guest speakers and events, ensuring students are exposed to a wide range of pathways and professions, with our Futures Fair a highly anticipated event in the school calendar. Over the years, local senior schools have attended the HCH Futures Fair, providing a valuable opportunity to network with prestigious organisations and higher education institutions and gain inspiring insights into future possibilities.
Together, these experiences empower students to make confident, well-informed choices and to step into their futures with ambition, clarity and resilience.
