A huge thank you to our wonderful peripatetic team for their dedication and support in the lead-up to the concerts, through rehearsals, lessons, and accompanying pupils in the recitals. Special thanks to Roberto, Julie and Aldevis for supporting our bands, and Emily for accompanying her pupils and for Kieran leading the chamber choir on Beatles repertoire.
We are incredibly proud of all our pupils for sharing their music so confidently. These events take a great deal of organisation (and plenty of technical juggling behind the scenes!), but they are always such joyful and rewarding occasions.
The Prep Junior Choir shone with a pop mash-up this time, alongside a range of soloists who opened the concert beautifully. We also enjoyed a variety of duets and group performances later in the programme, some featuring original choreography. Emily’s recorder ensemble gave an excellent debut performance as part of our new Treblemakers club, followed by some lovely contributions from our string players on violin and cello. A special mention must go to Jaehee for an outstanding performance.
Our pianists also impressed throughout the evening, demonstrating confident and well-prepared playing across all levels, from beginners to more advanced grade performers.
The Senior Recital was a wonderful celebration of musical talent, confidence and hard work. Pupils performed an impressive and varied programme, ranging from classical repertoire by Vivaldi, Handel, Sibelius and Shostakovich to folk songs, jazz, musical theatre and contemporary band pieces. The Senior Ensemble opened the recital with energy and style, setting a confident tone for the evening. Soloists and smaller groups then performed with real focus, musicality and commitment, showing excellent preparation across voice, flute, piano, guitar, viola, saxophone, violin and bass. The Chamber Choir gave a beautifully shaped performance of Blackbird/ Nowhere Man, and the band items brought the concert to an exciting and lively close.
All performers should be very proud of the progress they have made and the courage they showed in performing to an audience. It was a hugely enjoyable recital and a lovely reflection of the musical life of the school.
