This week, the Languages Department hosted Hampton Court House’s very first Language Afternoon, celebrating the rich diversity of languages and cultures represented across our increasingly international school community.
Throughout the afternoon, students and staff enjoyed a vibrant array of stalls featuring traditional food, games, cultural displays and language activities from around the world. Our students proudly showcased their heritage, with stalls representing South Africa, Wales, the Isle of Man, Scotland, Austria, Italy, Romania, East Asia, South Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Music from across the globe filled the air, adding to the festive atmosphere and giving everyone a chance to experience different cultures through sound as well as language.
Our teachers also joined in the celebrations, sharing aspects of the cultures of the Caribbean, Greece and Spain. It was wonderful to see so many members of our community coming together to learn from one another, share their traditions and celebrate what makes Hampton Court House such a unique and welcoming place.
