Creativity has been flowing through the classrooms as pupils have explored the art of ceramics, drawing inspiration from both modern design and ancient history.
In Year 1, children have been busy designing and making their own pots inspired by the work of ceramicist Clarice Cliff. They explored her bold use of colour, striking patterns, and distinctive shapes, using these elements to influence their own creations. The pupils showed great imagination and enthusiasm, carefully shaping their pots and decorating them with vibrant designs that reflect Cliff’s iconic style.
Meanwhile, Year 4 pupils have taken a journey back in time to Ancient Rome. They have been crafting ceramic jars inspired by Roman face pots, learning about how these objects were used and what they represented. The children developed their sculpting skills by shaping facial features and experimenting with texture, resulting in a wonderful range of expressive and characterful pieces.
Across both year groups, it has been fantastic to see pupils developing their artistic skills, gaining confidence in working with clay, and drawing inspiration from different periods in history.
