Exam results are only part of the story. Meet some of our GCSE students and discover the subjects, experiences and achievements that have shaped their time at Hampton Court House, as well as what they’re looking forward to as they take their next steps.
Kyle
Congratulations to Kyle, who achieved an impressive eight Grade 9’s (A*); three Grade 8’s (A*) and a Grade A in Additional Maths.
When reflecting on his GCSE journey, he praises his teachers as ‘subject specialists’, resulting in lessons that were interesting and exciting, delivered with an infectious passion. He recognises that there was a great deal of knowledge to absorb during the GCSE period and his own ability to work well under pressure and now looks forward the future – specialising in subjects that he has great interest in when he begins his A Levels, rebuilding connections with friends and looking excitedly and resolutely to the future.
We look forward to welcoming Kyle back to the HCH Sixth Form in September to study English, History, Maths and Further Maths.
“Being able to work efficiently and perform well under pressure has been incredibly rewarding, and I am looking forward to returning to HCH for Sixth Form in September. The help from Katy and Tessa in the lead up to beginning Sixth Form has helped to prepare me for my next steps – from detailed discussions around course content and matching these to my future plans – I know I’ve made the right decision and feel confident I will continue to achieve here”.
Beatrice
Having achieved an excellent set of results, including four Grade 9s (A*), four Grade 8s (A*) and a Grade 7 (A), Beatrice is looking forward to studying Psychology, Business and Geography in September, and plans to go on to study Psychology at university in two years’ time.
Reflecting on her time at HCH, Beatrice is particularly proud of how much her confidence has classroom, the great friendships she has made and the many wonderful memories she will take with her into the next chapter. When asked what she believes makes HCH different, she fondly reflects on the excellent relationships between students and staff and her teachers’ efforts in going above and beyond as they supported her in preparation for her exams – including 1:1 intervention to go over topics where she needed additional support. For Beatrice, the culture of purposeful informality and calm environment truly sets HCH apart.
Rosie
Having achieved an incredible six Grade 9’s (A*) two Grade 8s (A*) and two Grade 7’s (A), Rosie is looking forward to returning to the HCH Sixth Form in September to study Biology, Geography and French, and hopes to work in the ecology sector in the future.
When reflecting on her time at HCH, she looks back fondly on the opportunities she had to take her learning beyond the classroom and apply knowledge to real-world contexts through field work, workshops and trips, particularly excursions that allowed her to explore the local historic area, such as field trips to investigate the River Thames in Geography lessons.
Anna
Anna achieved a fantastic set of results including seven Grade 9’s (A*) and two Grade 8’s (A*). At Sixth Form she will study Psychology, Biology and Chemistry, with ambitions to work in neuroscience.
Anna praises her teachers for their support during her time at HCH and in the preparation for her GCSE’s – from after school and lunch time sessions to 1:1 interventions, she believes their sense of care and the positive relationships between students and teachers are unmatched. Anna looks forward to her next chapter as the recipient of a full two-year scholarship, a result of the fantastic results she attained at HCH. We hope to welcome her back as part of our alumni in the future.
Luca
Having secured excellent results of five Grade 9s (A*) and four Grade 8s (A*), Luca is excited to begin his next chapter in September, studying Biology, Economics and Psychology.
Luca truly went above and beyond throughout his GCSE journey, achieving a grade higher than predicted in almost all of his subjects and he is particularly proud of his Maths result, praising his teacher for their additional support which helped him attain a Grade 8. Reflecting on his time at HCH, he praises his teachers for their endless support, including valuable 1:1 interventions, and is especially grateful for the lifelong friendships he has formed along the way.
Ron
Having achieved an excellent set of results including four Grade 9s (A*), five Grade 8s (A*) and an A in Additional Maths, Ron is proudly looking ahead to September, when he will study Maths, Further Maths and Economics.
Looking back on his time at HCH, Ron highlights how much his teachers genuinely care about every student and how the school has prepared him for the future by developing valuable skills that he will carry with him into Sixth Form and beyond.
