At Hampton Court House, we believe school should be an inspiring, joyful journey—one that blends academic ambition with rich, real-world experiences.
We believe that truly impactful learning happens through experience—by doing, seeing, exploring, and engaging with the world. Learning here reaches far beyond the classroom: students explore history on trips to Rome, investigate ecosystems in the field, immerse themselves in the arts, and develop new skills through workshops that spark curiosity and independence. These experiences deepen understanding, build confidence, and nurture a genuine love of learning.
While we are proud to achieve academic outcomes comparable to the most selective schools, our purpose is broader: to develop well-rounded, confident young people. We celebrate each student’s individuality, supporting their unique talents through a dynamic and nurturing environment. With our progressive approach to languages, the arts, and experiential learning, life at HCH is vibrant and enriching—a place where students grow personally, form lasting friendships, and thrive both in and beyond their studies.
Clubs and Enrichment
Here, education reaches well beyond the classroom walls. With more than 50 clubs and a vibrant enrichment programme, running throughout the year, students are encouraged to follow their curiosity, discover new passions, and grow in confidence. Our co-curricular life offers opportunities to explore creative arts, cutting-edge technology, sport, music, and adventure, ensuring every student can find something that excites and inspires them. These experiences play a vital role in shaping well-rounded individuals, helping students develop key life skills and form lasting friendships.
Each term, our energetic and imaginative staff lead an ever-evolving selection of clubs, welcoming students from across different year groups. This creates a warm, collaborative environment where students connect, try new challenges, and broaden their horizons. Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a celebrated part of our enrichment offering—an experience that challenges students, broadens their horizons, and helps them discover new strengths. The Award encourages independence, resilience and personal growth, and we are proud to support our students as they work towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold programmes.
Through the DofE, pupils commit to developing new skills, taking part in physical activity, volunteering within their community, and completing an expedition. Each element nurtures qualities that will serve them far beyond school life: teamwork, confidence, leadership and perseverance.
At HCH, we view the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as more than an extracurricular activity—it is a transformative experience that builds character and inspires ambition. By stepping outside their comfort zones and embracing challenge, our students gain confidence, compassion and a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. It is one of the many ways we empower young people to grow into capable, curious and resilient individuals, ready to take on whatever comes next.
Trips
School trips are a powerful catalyst for learning. Stepping outside the classroom allows students to deepen their cultural literacy, encounter new perspectives, and understand the world in ways that textbooks alone can’t offer.
Our residential and overseas adventures form some of the most memorable chapters of school life. Students take part in immersive experiences ranging from outdoor education in the British countryside to cultural and academic trips across Europe and further afield, with trips to Thailand, Berlin, the Arctic, Rome and Madrid in recent years. Such journeys nurture resilience, teamwork and global awareness, while giving students a deeper appreciation of different environments and ways of life.
Closer to home, day trips across London and the UK support every area of the curriculum. Students might find themselves investigating coastal geography, exploring world-class galleries and design institutions, or visiting centres of political and cultural significance. Trips like these create meaningful links between classroom lessons and real-world contexts, strengthening understanding and sparking new interests.
The arts also play a central role in our enrichment programme. Regular theatre visits, concert outings, and cultural events allow students to engage with live performance at its best—whether watching Shakespeare in a historic theatre, attending a major London production, or experiencing choral music in a royal chapel. These moments foster creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of culture.
Together, these opportunities form a rich tapestry of experiences that complement our academic curriculum and strengthen our students’ sense of curiosity, confidence and belonging. At HCH, we are committed to ensuring every student has the chance to explore, discover and grow beyond the classroom—shaping an education that is truly expansive, adventurous and inspiring.
French
French language learning is a particular strength and feature life at Hampton Court House, where we provide a rich bilingual environment for both native and non-native speakers. We follow a French immersion programme from Year to Year 4 where some classes are taught in French. Our French as a Mother Tongue (FLAM) programme follows the French national curriculum, ensuring fluency in language and literature, while our personalised approach allows students to thrive in both English and French education systems.
For students learning French as a second language, we offer the prestigious DELF French Studies Diploma, with structured pathways from beginner to advanced levels. As a recognised DELF examination centre, we support our students in achieving internationally recognised qualifications that enhance university applications and career prospects.
Music
Music is at the heart of life at Hampton Court House, where students of all abilities are encouraged to explore their musical passions. With a rich programme spanning chamber music, jazz, choirs, music tech, and instrumental lessons, every student has the chance to develop their talents and perform, whether in intimate lunchtime concerts or grand recitals. From their first notes to accomplished musicianship, we inspire a lifelong love of music.
Sport
Sport at Hampton Court House is about more than just competition – it’s about participation, enjoyment, and finding a lifelong passion for physical activity. With over 25 different sports on offer, including rowing, fencing, ballet, and team games, every student has the opportunity to develop confidence, resilience, and teamwork. Using world class facilities and expert coaching, our programme ensures that all students, from Prep to Senior School, stay active, engaged, and inspired to find the sport they want to play for life.
