Matthew was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He studied with the University of Guelph where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Kinesiology. Part-way through his undergraduate studies Matthew discovered his passion for teaching. Matthew decided to complete a Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University with specialisms in biology and physical education. After graduating, Matthew moved to the U.K. to teach biology with various schools while taking on roles as Head of Biology and Head of KS3 Science. Matthew has worked as a GCSE biology examiner, a private tutor, and author of ‘Super Simple Biology: The Ultimate Bitesize Guide’ published internationally by DK Books.

Matthew’s interests include dance, volleyball, fitness, French language, and board games. Matthew is a former competitive dancer with training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and salsa. He trained with a London dance company called ‘House of Jazz’ and has taught dance in schools. Matthew’s interest in fitness led him to a certification with the NSCA as a strength and conditioning specialist. He has had experience as a personal trainer and sports coach.
