Budding Writers in Reception

Posted: 23rd February 2026

Our Reception writers are becoming increasingly confident and independent! During their writing session, the children wrote sentences about a picture, carefully thinking about what they wanted to say.

They remembered to use finger spaces between words and took great care with their letter formation. Using their “Fred Fingers,” they sounded out words independently, applying their phonics knowledge brilliantly.

We are so proud of their concentration and determination. These early writing experiences are building strong foundations in literacy, supporting both reading and writing skills, as well as confidence in expressing their own ideas.
