This week, our school community came together to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week – one week early, but with twice the energy, colour, and impact!
From the moment students arrived with their green items of clothing on Monday , it was clear this was going to be a special week – followed by an impressive display of funky (and wonderfully odd!) socks. Across the school, students took part in a wide range of activities designed to promote positive wellbeing . Form times and sessions in our new dedicated Wellbeing Room were filled with creativity and connection, as students enjoyed colouring, quizzes, games, and opportunities to pause, reflect, and recharge. These were complemented by insightful assemblies that encouraged meaningful conversations around mental health, as well as a buzzing Wellbeing Marketplace selling fun and useful items and exciting raffles that added to the sense of celebration.
One of the highlights of the week was undoubtedly the sponsored walk around the HCH lake, where students showed fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination, all while supporting an incredibly important cause. We also ended the week with a special treat selling Krispy Kreme donuts for £1,50 at lunchtime on Friday.
Throughout the week, it was inspiring to see students learning new techniques, sharing ideas, and supporting one another in promoting positive wellbeing. At HCH, wellbeing is a priority at every level, and we are absolutely delighted that the week was such a success in raising the awareness of the importance of positive mental health across the school.
At HCH we want every student to feel supported and this is why we provide the additional Wellbeing counseling services and resources for our students. Over the course of this week we have raised £775 after expenses. We will be asking our students to choose what additional resources such as mindful games and reading materials we can purchase for our Wellbeing Room.
A huge thank you goes to Tessa, Sage, Beth and Sam for their fantastic efforts in supporting and organising events throughout the week. We are also incredibly grateful to our students, families, and other staff who helped behind the scenes, for their generosity, enthusiasm, and continued commitment to making HCH a caring, supportive, and inclusive community.
What a week – and what a reminder of the power of coming together.
