HCH Receives Harmony Project Accreditation for Sustainable Thinking Curriculum

Posted: 22nd July 2025

Hampton Court House is proud to announce that we have officially been accredited by The Harmony Project for our innovative Sustainable Thinking curriculum—making us one of only a handful of schools in the UK to receive this distinction.

This national recognition reflects our deep commitment to environmental education and to preparing students to become thoughtful, responsible global citizens.

Rooted in the Principles of Harmony in Nature

The Harmony programme is inspired by HM King Charles III’s seminal book Harmony: A New Way of Looking at Our World. It teaches children that nature is interconnected, balanced, and cyclical—principles we believe are essential for understanding the world and our place within it.

At Hampton Court House, these seven principles of harmony—interdependence, the cycle, diversity, adaptability, health, geometry, and oneness—are embedded across our Prep School curriculum from Reception to Year 6. Each half term focuses on one principle, supported by integrated geometry and interdisciplinary inquiry.

A Curriculum That Connects and Inspires

The Harmony curriculum connects subjects such as Science, English, Art, and Design & Technology, providing pupils with a holistic learning experience. It draws on leading contemporary texts, including Cradle to Cradle and Upcycle, to encourage responsible innovation and sustainable design thinking.

Delivered weekly, the programme lays the foundation for ethical thinking and problem-solving that continues into Senior School—giving students the tools to engage with environmental challenges with creativity and confidence.

A Collaborative Achievement

This accreditation is a powerful endorsement of the passion and dedication of our staff, particularly our D&T Programme Lead Krisztina, Sustainability Lead Sally Cornelius, and the guidance of Richard Dunne from The Harmony Project. We also thank our partners at Dukes Education and the entire HCH community for championing this forward-thinking initiative.

As one of the few Harmony-accredited schools in the UK, we are honoured to be leading the way in sustainable education. This achievement underscores our belief that learning should empower students not only academically, but also ethically and environmentally.
