Year 1 Assistant (with French Teaching)

Hampton Court House is an all-through (3 to 18) independent school in southwest London. The school is situated in beautiful riverside parkland between Richmond and Hampton.

We seek a charismatic and caring teaching assistant to work primarily with Year 1. This is a full-time position for the 2021/22... academic year. Hampton Court House has a French immersion programme in the Lower Years (Years 1 to 4) and 60% of lessons are taught in French. The French immersion programme was recently recognised by the Times Education Supplement in its annual Independent School Awards. The Year 1 assistant should have a high level of spoken and written French.

Ideally we would like a candidate with the confidence and desire to teach during the Autumn Term to assist with maternity cover. This would include teaching Year 1 humanities and science in French (Découverte du monde) and eventually teaching French to children in Year 6. This role would suit someone with experience of teaching, or someone who would like to try his or her hand at teaching within a very supportive French department.

The teaching assistant must be a self-aware individual with outstanding interpersonal skills, and able to inspire our boys and girls with a lifelong love of reading and speaking French and English.

Teaching Assistant (Reading Specialist) – Primary Years

A full-time teaching assistant post will be opening in September working with children from Years 1 to 4. The main part of the role will involve listening to children read on a one-to-one basis. The successful applicant will form an integral part of our Lower Years reading programme and his / her principal... responsibilities will be:

  • One-to-one reading support with Lower Years children
  • Support of identified intervention groups
  • Assisting the Lower Years English specialist in class
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, particularly Lower Years drama

    Teacher of Computer Science (NQT full-time)

    Hampton Court House is an all-through (3 to 18) independent school in southwest London. Situated in beautiful riverside parkland between Richmond and Hampton, the school was short-listed for Senior School of the Year at the 2020 TES Independent School Awards.

    Hampton Court House has an established reputation... for computing and programming. Computing is taught as a specialist subject from Year 5. We seek an authoritative and enthusiastic computing specialist with the skill and personality to assist in the continuing development of the school’s computing and programming culture.

    The successful candidate will have a background in computer science, and a strong desire to teach this subject at A level and GCSE. The candidate should be open to learning and introducing emerging technologies to students, must be a self-aware individual with outstanding interpersonal skills, and able to inspire our boys and girls with a love of programming and computing.

    The ideal candidate will have a wide range of interests, and be able to contribute to the high cultural and intellectual ethos of the school. All of our teachers are expected to contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the school.

    This position is a full-time and permanent to start in September 2021.

    Early Years Practitioner (part-time)

    Hampton Court House is an all-through independent school in southwest London and is situated in beautiful riverside parkland between Richmond and Hampton.

    Hampton Court House runs a small daycare for children ranging in age from 3 to 36 months. There are currently six children. We are looking to appoint... a dedicated and enthusiastic childcare professional to start in September 2021 to work in the daycare. The position is part-time and the successful applicant will work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This position is term-time and INSET days only.

    Ideally, candidates should have Early Years qualifications. However, applications will be considered from candidates with relevant experience who would be prepared to work towards a minimum level three qualification in Early Years education.

    Mandarin Teacher

    Hampton Court House is a small, highly regarded independent school situated opposite Hampton Court Palace. The School occupies a beautiful eighteenth-century building and lies on a three-hectare site within picturesque landscaped grounds. There are almost 300 pupils from preschool to Year 13.

    We seek... a charismatic communicator to teach Mandarin to Years 5 to 11. All of our Year 5 to 8 pupils have Mandarin twice a week, and many go on to study it in Years 9 to 11. The successful candidate may also be asked to design a programme to offer A level Mandarin in future years.

    The position is to start at the beginning of the Autumn Term in September 2021.

    We are looking for a Mother Tongue Chinese speaker who has an excellent command of English. Experience teaching children in Key Stages 2, 3, and 4 is preferred, but not essential. The successful candidate will have an engaging personality and be able to inspire enthusiasm and a love of the language in our pupils. All of our teachers are expected to contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the School and to help promote the School’s ethos of kindness, respect, intellectual curiosity, and academic rigour.

    Our pupils have hitherto learnt Simplified Chinese but we welcome someone able to teach Traditional Chinese if they can teach Simplified to the children who have already started learning Mandarin.
