Mathematics Teacher

Hampton Court House is the top ISA school for GCSE results (85% grades 9/8/7 in July 2018). We are number 1 on the ISC’s table of ‘small independent schools’. We are also ranked 1st in our borough for A level results and, of the 2625 sixth forms in England with at least ten students taking A levels last summer, HCH ranks 10th and is the highest ranked independent school in the London area.

Hampton Court House is situated opposite Hampton Court Palace, adjacent to Bushy Park. We are a fast-growing school, with pupil numbers increasing each year. The school occupies a three-hectare site within landscaped grounds. There are 250 day pupils from pre-school to Year 13.

We seek a charismatic communicator to teach in our small maths department, to inspire our children with the beauty of mathematics, and help all of them to gain satisfaction from appropriate mathematical achievements. Our subject specialists usually teach a range of ages from Year 5 through to Year 13 and the successful candidate will be expected to teach Further Maths. All of our teachers are expected to contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the school.

Our Sixth Form teaching is scheduled between 1.30 pm and 7 pm to suit the circadian rhythm of adolescents in their late teens. Class sizes at A level are very small and our students are of a high calibre looking towards Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.

We are looking for well-qualified mathematicians, who will be able to inspire enthusiasm in our pupils and help to promote the high cultural and academic ethos of the school. Applications are equally welcome from teachers with some years’ experience and from new entrants to the profession.

If you would like to discuss informally further details of the post, please contact the Head of Mathematics, Anja Lichtenau, by email or telephone (020 8614 0858).

Deadline for applications: Monday 11 March.
Salary – negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications.

Completed applications should be sent to Kate Harper at kah@hchnet.co.uk.
