Head of Learning Support (Primary)

Hampton Court House is a fast-growing independent school situated in beautiful riverside parkland between Richmond and Hampton in southwest London.

We are seeking an appropriately well-qualified SENCo, who is not afraid to challenge established practice and maintains an overview of educational theory and evidence-based practice with both an open mind and a healthy scepticism. Applications from retired primary school teachers with relevant qualifications would be welcome.

We seek a charismatic communicator to lead our small learning support department in the primary years, work closely with Heads of Department to ensure the needs of all learners are met, and to contribute to whole school academic and pastoral policy.

The main responsibilities of the Head of Learning Support include:
• liaising with teachers, parents and outside agencies, advising the Senior Leadership Team on SEND matters, admissions and CPD for staff;
• Tracking the progress of pupils on the Learning Support Register, maintaining the register and processing new referrals;
• Teaching one-to-one and small groups; supporting literacy and numeracy, specific learning difficulties, speech and language skills and social skills to pupils from Reception to Year 5.

If you would like to discuss informally further details of the post, please contact the Deputy Head, Ben Ruddin by email (btr@hchnet.co.uk).

Deadline for applications: Friday 22 May at 10 am. We will be interviewing as and when we receive completed applications.

Salary – negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications

Hampton Court House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
