Times Table Challenge

Supporters lifting the roof of the theatre with their chants, children red-faced from exertion, excitement in the air – it’s that time of year again: the Times Tables Challenge.
This year’s Challenge has seen great efforts from all year groups; Year 3 all the way to Year 11. The three teams that made it into the final were Year 4, Year 9 and Year 10. Year 4 took everyone by surprise, being the first team from the lower years ever to make it to the final.
Year 9 stormed through the first round, the 100 questions sheet, in record time and steadily collected points in rounds 2, 3 and 4. Year 10 and Year 4 were neck to neck fighting for second place with Year 10 narrowly beating Year 4 in the last minute.
Congratulations Year 9; I also want to congratulate every one who made it unto their team and those who just got better and beat their personal record.
We are looking forward to next year’s Challenge already and are hoping to have a teacher team (made up of teachers who do not specialise in teaching Maths) in the final.
