Upper Years

Upper Years pupils will have a combination of lessons delivered by Zoom and independent work. Please see the timetables.

Morning assembly

Guy will record a morning assembly every day. The link to view the assembly will be sent to you and posted on our website shortly afterwards. We do recommend that students watch the assembly before they start their day’s school work.

Year 9

Lessons on Zoom

There are three timetabled lessons each day delivered by Zoom. The teacher will publish the link to the lesson in their Google Classroom.

Independent Work

Cross-Curricular Projects

The Humanities, Arts and Science departments will be setting projects using Google classroom. It will be made clear what the students are expected to achieve each day.

Year 10

Lessons through Zoom

Giving and having lessons through Zoom does take some getting used to. Students will need to listen carefully to instructions and be paticularly considerate of their classmates.

Students should follow the school rules and dress code as they would on any normal school day. This includes not eating during the lesson – no-one wants to watch that!

We recommend that, where practical, students have their lessons in communal areas of the house like a kitchen, dining room or study, rather than conduct calls from private areas like their bedrooms.

Students will need to submit their work electronically to be marked by the teacher. PDFs are much preferred over JPEG images. Office Lens, Genius Scan, and Adobe apps offer easy ways to do this.

Year 11

Lessons through Zoom

Sixth Form teachers will be offering a pre-Sixth Form timetable, and students should choose options from the following blocks.

Block A Block B Block C Block D Block E
Mathematics Chemistry Physics History Biology
French English Psychology Economics Geography
Computing Spanish

Students wanting to do Further Maths should choose Maths and they will be set extension work.
We would usually expect students to do 3-4 courses, but if there are additional options in the other blocks that students would like to try out then they are welcome to do so.
Students taking the CNED programme will continue to have their lessons by Zoom.

Communication skills

Guy will run a communication skills course.

Extended Project

James will be running an Extended Project course, which will introduce students to the Extended Project Qualification or Higher Project Qualification, which they can start this term and certificate next year.

Information about the cancellation of public examinations for Year 11 can be found here.

Extra-curricular Activities

Students and families may like to participate in activities together over and above the work we are setting in the distance learning curriculum. We will regularly keep you informed of activities, challenges, resources to benefit the wellbeing of pupils and parents etc.

Staying informed and whom to contact

The Coronavirus situation section of the website will be kept up-to-date with information about the school’s continuity plans as well as the timetables for each section of the school. We will also be posting our extra curricular activities, challenges, artwork and photographs to these pages.

Your form tutor is your first point of contact and in addition to your form time they can schedule individual appointments if you wish to discuss a specific matter. Please do email them directly.

Please email Rachel Bowles or request a Zoom or Skype call and I will be delighted to help with any general or administrative enquiries you have. Please also send me any photos you have of the time being spent at home. I will be sending out ideas in the coming days too.

Please email Ben Ruddin if you have any queries about the continuity plans, Zoom use or staying connected with the school from home.
