Lower Years Nature Trail

On Wednesday 19th June, the whole of Lower Years children went on a nature trail expedition in Bushy Park where they explored the different shades of the park and collected some natural samples of different colours. Two members of the Field Studies Council accompanied us on this adventure and took us to the FSC centre in Hampton. There, we were split into groups and explored two different micro-habitats. Whilst one group did pond dipping and carefully identified the aquatic invertebrates evolving in this area; the other group were log rolling to find out about which living things developed in this particular habitat. We then came back to the centre to have a closer look at the specimens with the use of a camera and microscope. We talked about how these invertebrates are adapting to each micro habitat. It was a fantastic outdoor learning experience that enabled the children to open their eyes to the world surrounding them.
