Gerard Ring

Gerard trained as a social worker and worked in a variety of local authority social work settings around the country, both as a front-line practitioner and manager. His particular areas of experience have been in adoption, fostering and child protection. From 1999 to 2011, he was a Children’s Guardian, representing the interests of children and providing advice to Family Courts in legal proceedings. Gerard also trained as a Mediator.

He now works as an independent social worker and self-employed trainer, providing training in safeguarding and child Protection, and in courtroom skills. He is also a trustee for Home-Start Richmond.

Gerard is a long-term resident of the borough, having been born and raised in Barnes. He now lives in Twickenham and is married with three children and one granddaughter.
