The Afternoon of the Pumpkins

Even before the day began, the pumpkins started to appear in the main hall. At first they came in ones and twos then there was a deluge before assembly. Mustered opposite the front door and in full view of Bushy Park, they waited for the afternoon’s festivities.
By lunchtime there were almost thirty pumpkins of different shapes and sizes: some grisly, some funny and some truly beyond description. Each pumpkin had been entered for the School’s inaugural pumpkin competition (the proceeds of which will go ‘The Royal Marsden Charity’) and following a showing of Nosferatu by F W Murnau two winners were selected.
The pumpkins then trooped home in the arms of students, witches, vampires and teachers ready for Hallowe’en. IMG_0185
