Year 5 and 6 Netball Win

Yesterday, the Hampton Court House Years 5 and 6 netball team played a match against St. Catherine’s School and won. The girls had the first centre pass, starting the game with a strong attack. They used all the space on the court, allowing the ball to travel almost immediately down into the D with Ana scoring our first goal.

At quarter time, the mood was buoyant as the HCH girls were 1 goal up. With excellent defence from Selina, Jeanne and Alexandra, the girls managed to pass the ball away from the opposition’s circle and yet again down towards our attack, with Katinka scoring the second goal for HCH. Approaching half time, the girls seemed to slacken their marking slightly, due to fatigue, which unfortunately allowed St. Catherine’s to score their first goal. The score at half time was 2-1.

The HCH girls knew that if they kept up the hard work they could finish with a strong win as they had dominated the first half of the game. At half time St. Catherine’s had made some tactical swaps, placing their taller players in defence. However, this did not affect HCH! With outstanding teamwork and accurate passing from Kana, Harriet and Stacy in the centre court, Katinka yet again managed to score another amazing goal for HCH just inside the circle!

Going into the final quarter in the lead put a lot of pressure on the girls – they didn’t want all their hard work go to waste. Needless to say they didn’t give up! The level of netball during the final quarter was outstanding, allowing Ana to score the final goal for HCH. The final score was 4-1.

I would like to congratulate all the girls for their outstanding level of teamwork and determination! A well-deserved win – well done!

Player of the match – Stacy.

Team – Stacy (Captain), Selina, Jeanne, Alexandra, Kana, Harriet, Katinka and Ana.
