Tristram Jones-Parry

Tristram read Mathematics at Oxford University. He then worked in the Operational Research Department of The National Coal Board. He later taught Maths and was Head of IT at Dulwich College. He became Head of Maths at Westminster School and later a housemaster and then Under Master (Deputy Head). In 1994 he became Headmaster of Emanuel School. From 1998 to 2005 he was Head Master of Westminster School. From 2006 to 2008 he was Manager of the Oxfordshire Further Mathematics Centre which involved delivering the Further Mathematics curriculum in numerous maintained schools around Oxfordshire. He is a governor of Walworth Academy, Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation, United Westminster Schools and Solihull School.

Agnesa Tothova

Voice

Agnesa Tothova was born and brought up in the Slovak Republic. She began studying music at a young age (violin, piano, voice) and worked with most of the finest voice and music teachers in Europe (Martin Issep, Eva Randova, Anthony Legge, Richard van Allen, Peter Dvorsky, Roger Vignoles, Paola Molinari, Julian Smith and Peter Schreier).  Agnesa won her first international voice competition while still in her teens, and went on to win most of the leading competitions in Eastern Europe. London debut at St John’s Smith Square in 1996. Agnesa has since established herself both as a performer and teacher. On a scholarship from the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Agnesa studied at the National Opera Studio, where she sang Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Nedda in I Pagliacci and Rusalka in Rusalka. She has sung at many leading operatic and concert venues throughout England and Europe and worked with theatre directors like John Copley, Olivia Fuchs, Peter Hall and Debra Warner. She has recorded Schumann`s song cycle “Maria Stuart ” and recently recorded an album of arias and duets with her husband Paul Vincent and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. She recently performed an Opera recital at the Rotterdam Summer Open Air Festival 2008 with Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Agnesa has 14 years teaching experience and she is very highly regarded as a voice teacher, both in Britain and on the continent. She speaks several languages and she is the Founder of “Your Voice and You” singing methodology which emphasises on psychological aspects of performing and the impact of different emotions on the human voice.



Jose Maria Alvarez-Campos

José grew up in Madrid and holds an honours degree in politics as well as a postgraduate teaching degree (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). He is now a postgraduate student of philosophy, with a particular interest in Jean-Jacques Rousseau, John Rawls and the Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset. He has lived in London for several years and has taught Spanish across the age range, from kindergarten to A-level.

Richard James
BSc - Chess


Full time chess coach and author. Director of Richmond Junior Chess Club, which he co-founded in 1975, and Chess Programme Manager of the Richmond Chess Initiative. Webmaster of chessKIDS academy, a website for children learning chess, their parents and teachers. He has been teaching chess to children since the early 1970s. Richard has taught all levels from beginners to world champions (he helped to prepare Luke McShane for the World U10 Championship). He is the author of Move One!, a chess course for children, and co-author of The Complete Chess Addict, The Even More Complete Chess Addict and the Addicts' Corner column in CHESS Magazine. He has also produced other coaching materials for children, which are available for free download at chessKIDS academy.

Outside chess, Richard enjoys listening to classical and folk music, cryptic crosswords, contract bridge, reading contemporary fiction and local history.


Haider Daikh
Mathematics

Haider was born in Basrah, Iraq and graduated from Basrah University. He has lived in Argentina, where he taught IGCSE and AICE Maths in independent English schools offering bilingual education. his previous roles have been Head of Maths and International Baccalaureate Diploma Examiner since 2005. Currently he researching polynomials and he is about to publish his own theorem and proofs simpler and more elegant than the traditional ones by Cardano (or Tartaglia) and Ferrari. His other interests include reading, current affairs and designing and building origami sailing boats.


Caroline Gehin

In addition to her passion for sharing her love of French culture and language, Caroline is committed to the restoration of a wide range of secular and religious stained glass in locations across South Wales and the UK.. She has extensive experience working with children, teenagers and adults in art, stained glass and French. In addition to this artistic career, she is also a professionally trained bassoonist, and is an enthusiastic amateur pianist.


Ben Ruddin

Geography

Ben was born in London and went on to study Geology at University of Southampton. He then went onto explore Geography further in his Masters degree. He spent two months in the Peruvian Andes surveying the effects of tourism on the ‘Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu’, reporting back to one of the agencies responsible with his findings, which formed part of the body of evidence which changed policies towards the Santuario. Ben then worked for a number of NGOs and travelled extensively which further enhanced his fascination with the subject. He then went on to do PGCE at the ‘Institute of Education’ and worked in a number of London schools before coming to Hampton Court House. Ben has an interest in pushing the boundaries of the subject and making fieldwork integral to a positive Geography curriculum. Other interests include walking, cycling, reading, art, swimming and travelling.


Dominic Rhys Smith
B.A.
History

Dominic read History at New College Oxford, where he won the Burden Griffith Prize (2005) for his work on the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. While still at Oxford he founded his own production company (Smith Nadell Productions) and successfully directed his own play (Leviathan) at the Burton Taylor Theatre. Dominic Smith has taken leading role in no fewer then nine productions and has a keen interest in developing the already strong drama tradition of Hampton Court House.


Damien Waugh

Damien worked as a forensic scientist and environmental chemist in Canada. After studying for a post graduate degree in education, he has taught science in Canada, China and England. His interests include reading, hiking, Nordic skiing and cycling. Damien spent some time as a professional cyclist and completed an epic cycling journey from China to England in 2009.


Raul Alves

Physics

Raúl taught in Portugal’s Public Education and for some years trained children and adults in IT before coming to England. A member of the Portuguese Physics Society, his interests include mathematics, cosmology, religion, philosophy and IT. He is also a numismatist and philatelist. He is currently working on a book about physical cosmology.


Milica Ilic

Guitar

Milica’s special talent for the guitar has been apparent since the age of seven. She began performing in her early teens, and began teaching at the age of 15.  Milica’s reputation as a performer received international acclaim when she accompanied and performed with tenor José Carreras in Cambodia, Singapore and Australia.  Having received First Class Honours in music at the University of Western Australia, she was then presented with the prestigious Western Australian Citizen of the Year Award in 2004.  Now based in London, Milica has produced two widely acclaimed classical guitar albums Rouge Guitar (2005) and Stir the Sky (2007), aired on Classic FM as well as ABC Classic FM Australia. The vibrancy and passion that pervades her own music is reflected in the enthusiasm she brings to her lessons.  She is currently involved in writing the new guitar manual Guitar inTuition, due for publication in 2009.


Michal Kaznowski
Cello

Following on from being principal cello of the Sadlers Wells Royal ballet and associate principal position in the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra, in 1979 Michal took up the post of principal cello in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra working with Simon Rattle. He was then the youngest principal cello in the country to accept such a senior position. Performing various concertos with the orchestra including a BBC broadcast Don Quixote, he shared the early development of the orchestra as it became one of the UK’s leading orchestras. Since leaving the CBSO in 1983 for what became the Maggini quartet, he has been principal cello of the New London Orchestra and in demand as a principal and guest principal cello for many of the leading freelance orchestras in London and the provinces.  His teachers were Maurice Gendron at the Menuhin School (including visiting teachers Nadia Boulanger and Yehudi Menuhin), Florence Hooton at the Royal Academy of Music (where he won the major cello prize), and André Navarra in Germany, (as a German Government Scholarship winner). He also performs outside the quartet as a soloist with many orchestras, a broadcast recitalist, as well as chamber music concerts.  He teaches at the Purcell School and in the past has taught at Birmingham Conservatoire, Wells Cathedral Music School, the Junior Royal College of Music and also at Birmingham and Southampton Universities. He was appointed an ARAM in 1991 for his work in the Quartet, and is also an Honorary Fellow of Canterbury Christ Church University and Brunel University.


Claire Aubry

Claire spent a semester studying in Germany and another one in the United States as an Erasmus student. She then taught English to French students of the Languages University in Angers. She also holds an MA in French as a Foreign Language and taught French to international students at University. She loves learning languages, travelling. She is really keen on reading and she has just started to play the guitar.



Shona Colaco

Shona has been working in education since 1989. She began her career teaching English as a Foreign Language, both in this country and abroad. After a period working in Environmental Management, she trained at Mansfield College, Oxford in 1994 and returned to teaching Science to GCSE and Biology at ‘A’ Level. Shona has undertaken professional training in science for children with special educational needs, is a Chartered Biologist and has an MA with distinction in Educational Leadership & Change.
Interests include gardening, baking and making preserves, keep fit and boogie boarding. Shona is also a qualified reflexologist.



Geoffrey Stamp

History & English

Geoff initially started teaching at King Edward’s School, Whitley, followed by three years on Ascension Island and then four in Zimbabwe where he headed up the English Department at Gokomere High School before turning to journalism full-time. Positions as chief sub-editor for Thompson Newspapers in Reading and then Chief Editor with the United Bible Societies international news service were followed by several years as a freelance photojournalist with focus particularly on Africa and the Far East. Interests include scuba diving, sport, music and, not surprisingly, stamp collecting


  
Nima Shayeghi
Mathematics

Nima studied computational mathematicsas as an undergraduate and machine learning and neural networks as a postgraduate. He received the Mathematics Prize from the University o London for his postgraduate work. Nima's PhD in Game Theory was conducted at King's College London.
Nima has been teaching mathematics and working as a filmmaker for the past 10 years while also writing freelance articles on Iranian music and art.


James Smith

James read mathematics at the Cambridge University, which included a year at Yale University. His masters from Imperial College London is in Advanced Computing. James has previously worked as a software designer, writing two books on software programming. James retrained as a mathematics teacher at St Marylebone School in 2008. He is actively developing the Garble blogging system and writing a book on the history of mathematics. James also enjoys rowing and other outdoor persuits.


Julian Stewart Lindsay

Composer, studied composition and voice at Royal Academy Music, London. Has lived in Singapore, Jamaica, Paris and Los Angeles. Experienced director of cathedral choirs (including boys’ and girls’ choirs). Many concerts at UK cathedrals (Salisbury, Wells etc). Interest in Jazz music. Writer of music for films and numerous TV programmes and documentaries (Jonathan Creek, Cutting Edge for C4 etc) Former song-writer and arranger for Boy George (Culture Club), Stevie Wonder and many others. Director of music management company. Four works commissioned for the millennium concert at Durham cathedral. Julian teaches composition to selected pupils throughout the school.


Eva Fitz

English

Eva Fitz was born and educated in Poland. She holds an MA degree in English Philology and has taught GCSE English, English Literature and History at a bilingual school in Corrientes, Argentina, where she was Head of English. She has also worked as teacher trainer in Patagonia, Argentina. Currently Eva acts as Diploma Examiner of English A1, Higher Level, for the International Baccalaureate Organisation. Eva is, naturally, an avid reader and she is interested in languages, music and theatre. She loves nature and is concerned about wildlife conservation – she has washed oiled penguins and taken part in a campaign to ban whale hunting.



Paul Vincent

MA Cantab – Music (class teacher), Piano, Violin

Paul studied the piano from the age of six, and took up the violin shortly after, going on to study with the legendary pedagogue Vera Kantrovitch. Aged seventeen, Paul took up conducting and worked with many of Europe’s leading teachers including George Hurst and Diego Masson. He read music at Cambridge University, where he founded several orchestras and choirs, and was a Choral Scholar at St John’s College under George Guest. He took up singing upon graduation with the Canadian Margaret Lobo. After a period at the European Mozart Academy in Krakow, Paul made his professional debut in Florence. Since then, Paul has sung across Europe, most recently as Don Giovanni for the Prague National Theatre. He made his British debut in 1999 singing an operatic recital with his soprano wife, Agnesa Tothova, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. In 2008, Paul made his American debut in Boston. In 2002, Paul founded AHIMSA, a not-for-profit aimed at global social transformation in service of solving many of our great challenges.


Roberto Manes

Yuri Paterson-Olenich

Studied piano with the late Alexander Kelly at Royal Academy of Music. Also harpsichord studies. Postgraduate Performance Studies with Vladimir Tropp, Russian Gnessins’ Academy of Music, Moscow 1996-2000. Recent performances throughout the UK and abroad (France,Germany, Italy, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan etc). Specialist in Scriabin and Frank Bridge. His CD Scriabin: late piano works has been enthusiastically reviewed by the Gramophone, International Piano Quarterly.


Parima Shahin Moghaddam
Art

Parima grew up in Iran. She studied at the Behzad School of Fine Art in Tehran before embarking on a rich artistic life as a painter, graphic designer, jewellery designer, costume, puppet designer, art director, and as a freelance writer and producer for the BBC World Service. Parima’s work has been exhibited all over the world. She has inspired generations of young children for some 15 years and regularly organises spectacular exhibitions of their work (both at school and in prestigious London locations).


Oliver Lomberg
Greek & Latin

At Peterhouse, University of Cambridge Oliver was Organ Scholar and directed the chapel choir. He worked as an editor in history publishing before joining the staff at Hampton Court House. Within Classics he is particularly interested in the built environment, and architecture in classical literature. He teaches Latin and Greek and currently runs the choir at Hampton Court House, and hopes to develop a tradition of choral singing within the school.


Clare Fells
Learning Support

After graduating Clare embarked on a career in pharmaceutical sales and marketing with SmithKline Beecham. After about four years in marketing, she switched over to pharmaceutical advertising with a London agency, in which she was ultimately appointed to Board Director. Having taken time out to raise her daughter, she then went into education in 2000. She is a Special Educational Needs and Learning Support teacher at Hampton Court House. She enjoys outdoor activities such as riding and walking.


Natali Kavenagh

Art

Natalie studied for PGCE at Roehampton Universtiry of Art in 2008. She gained a BA in Fine Art at the London Guildhall and specialised in filmmaking and annimation. Her degree piece was shown in BAFTA and she was later employed by the BBC as an upcoming young Filmmaker. Her work has been shown on television in the UK and the US. Natalie studied script reading by internship in Hollywood and went on to work on films such as Woody Allen's Scoop, Basic Instinct 2 and Casino Royale.


Clarisse Gheur

Clarisse was born and educated in Belgium. She graduated with an MA degree in Romance Philology and then obtained a teaching degree in French, and in French as a foreign language.  She lived in Spain. She has taught French in a secondary school in Brussels and last year, she taught French for the “Alliance Française” in Yucatan, Mexico. Clarisse loves traveling and learning about different cultures.  She plays the piano and she likes reading.

Olivier comes from Belgium and has been a teacher for 7 years. He studied in Belgium to be a primary teacher for a young children, writing a thesis entitled “How to learn a foreign language with children” as part of his studies. Olivier worked for some time in a European School in Brussels as an assistant and then as a form teacher. He also worked for the European Commission where he organised the extra-curriculum activities and in Belgium organising French Camps during the summer. Olivier’s philosophy is that the children he teaches should be happy and learn the essential skills for school life.


Dominique Vellutini

Dominique has ten years experience teaching French and English, within the French Educational system, in secondary and vocational schools. Her special interests are teaching foreign languages as well as English and French culture more generally. She places great value on linguistic precision and awareness and has always tried to impart a love of language and linguistic curiosity to her students. Enthusiastic Francophiles are always welcome in her class!


Viktor Bijelovic
Piano

Viktor has accumulated considerable experience on the concert platform both as a solo pianist as well as a chamber musician, with concerts in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malaysia and Yugoslavia as well as Britain, and making several TV and radio appearances. Winner of several prestigious international competitions, he has performed in many important venues, including Sadler’s Wells with The Pina Bausch Wuppertal Tanztheater, The Salle Gaveau Concert Hall in Paris and The Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade. Viktor was a guest performer at the 2nd ASEAN Chopin International Competition in Malaysia in December 2006. He has performed in front of HRH Prince Charles twice - at The Buckingham Palace, to mark the occasion of Prince Charles’s 50th Birthday Celebration and in May 2006 to inaugurate the Tent at St Ethelburga’s.


Dominic Cotton
Trumpet

Dominic studied at the Birmingham conservatoire, Trinity College of Music London and The Schola Cantorum, Basel. He plays with a number of Orchestras including the Modern and Baroque Orchestras; the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra; the National Symphony and New London Orchestra; the English Touring Opera and the Chamber Orchestra of Wales on the Baroque Trumpet. He also plays at weddings, shows, with Brass Ensembles such as Premier Brass, London Brass Virtuosi and with The Bavarian Strollers. Dominic teaches the trumpet throughout London, as well as at Hampton Court House, and recently gave a masterclass at Aberleen university, Texas USA. He play golf as much as possible, swims every day and goes on long distance bike rides.


Yuko Inoue
Viola

Winner of the 17th Budapest International Viola Competition, Yuko Inoue has performed as soloist throughout Europe and Japan with many orchestras, including the Hungarian State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and performs frequently with Britain’s most eminent string quartets and chamber ensembles. She is a member of Fibonacci Sequence Ensemble based in London.  She has also appeared as guest principal with several orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. Her CD, ROMANZE - The Romantic Viola, with pianist, Kathron Sturrock, was voted one of Classic CD magazine’s “Choices of the Month” in August 2000 and was also praised with similar enthusiasm from The Strad, Gramophone and Amazon. She has recorded all three Viola da Gamba Sonatas plus the Chaconne by JS Bach.  Yuko Inoue is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and gives masterclasses throughout Europe and Japan.


Shaheena Pall

Shaheena started her teaching career in the UK teaching English Language and Literature. After a long spell in the City in investment houses, she returned to teaching English as Foreign Language and headed a schools’ project for the British Council in Bangkok. Apart from travelling, particularly in Asia, she enjoys the challenge of learning languages.
