Agnesa

Agnesa Tothova was born and brought up in the Slovak Republic. She began studying
music at a young age and worked with most of the finest voice and music teachers
in the Slovak Republic. She completed her MA (including a teaching diploma)
at the Bratislava University with the highest possible honours. Agnesa won
her first international voice competition while still in her teens, and went
on to win most of the leading competitions in Eastern Europe. London debut
at St John’s Smith Square in 1996. Agnesa has since established herself
both as a performer and teacher. On a scholarship from the Royal Opera House
Covent Garden, Agnesa studied at the National Opera Studio, where she sang
Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin) and Nedda in I Pagliacci.
She has sung at many leading operatic and concert venues (including Queen Elizabeth
Hall and Glyndebourne), and is very highly regarded as a voice teacher, both
in Britain and on the continent.

José grew up in Madrid and holds an honours degree in politics as well
as a postgraduate teaching degree (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). He is
now a postgraduate student of philosophy, with a particular interest in Jean-Jacques
Rousseau, John Rawls and the Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset.
He has lived in London for several years and has taught Spanish across the age
range, from kindergarten to A-level.

Renowned London-based celebrity sports coach who, for 20 years, has been a personal
trainer and sports coach to many key figures in the media, industry and sport.
For many years he has run various sports clubs in West London (specialising in
cricket and football). Maurice actively promotes and teaches the skills of self-control,
concentration and co-ordination.
Maurice has taught in several London schools including Norland Place School,
Cameron House, Fairley House, The Vale. Maurice loves foreign travel and reading.

programme for all Key Stage One pupils at Hampton Court

time chess coach and author. Director of
Richmond Junior Chess Club, which he co-founded
in 1975, and Chess Programme Manager of
the Richmond Chess Initiative. Webmaster
of chessKIDS
academy, a website for children learning
chess, their parents and teachers. He has
been teaching chess to children since the
early 1970s. Richard has taught all levels
from beginners to world champions (he helped
to prepare Luke McShane for the World U10
Championship). He is the author of Move
One!, a chess course for children, and
co-author of The Complete Chess Addict,
The Even More Complete Chess Addict and
the Addicts' Corner column in CHESS Magazine.
He has also produced other coaching materials
for children, which are available for free
download at chessKIDS academy.
Outside
chess, Richard enjoys listening to classical and folk
music, cryptic crosswords, contract bridge, reading
contemporary fiction and local history.

Julie's
degree focused on three dimensional design. After
finishing her degree she worked within industry as
a furniture designer. After a number of years Julie
became a freelance artist/designer working with companies
and individual clients all over the world. She now
has two children and chooses to work mainly in the
UK and Europe. More recently she has been employed
by a number of local education authorities to provide
training for teachers about teaching art as a vocational
subject.

School, Whitley, followed by three years on Ascension Island
and then four in Zimbabwe where he headed up the English
Department at Gokomere High School before turning to journalism
full-time. Positions as chief sub-editor for Thompson Newspapers
in Reading and then Chief Editor with the United Bible
Societies international news service were followed by several
years as a freelance photojournalist with focus particularly
on Africa and the Far East. Interests include scuba diving,
sport, music and, not surprisingly, stamp collecting

Sue began her teaching career teaching English as a foreign
language both in England and in Italy. Fluent in Italian, she
spent some years living in Rome before returning to study mathematics.
Sue has worked as head of faculty in a variety of school settings.
She is a keen sailor and also enjoys skiing, foreign travel
and reading.

former Head of Mathematics, Nicholas Pinhey has taught GCSE

level Mathematics and Statistics for 13 years. A change
of career direction led Nicholas to writing and designing GCSE
Maths revision texts and also learning web site design and
marketing for his maths revision business which he started
in 2005. Other
interests include playing cricket and five-a-side football.
Nicholas also enjoys playing the guitar and is a curry ‘connoisseur’.

Shona
has been involved in education since 1989. She began her
career teaching English as a Foreign Language, both in this country
and abroad. After a period working in Environmental Management,
she returned to teaching Science at Key Stages 3 & 4 and Biology at ‘A’ Level.
Shona has also undertaken professional training in science
for children with special educational needs.
While an assistant warden for The National Trust, Shona carried out
education liaison, and practical conservation work. She has tutored adults
in basic literacy and numeracy, and has held an early years science advisory
role.
Interests
include gardening, baking and making preserves, keep fit
and boogie boarding. Shona is a qualified reflexologist
and a Chartered Biologist.

Music, London. Has lived in Singapore, Jamaica, Paris and
Los Angeles. Experienced director of cathedral choirs (including
boys’ and girls’ choirs). Many concerts at
UK cathedrals (Salisbury, Wells etc). Interest in Jazz
music.
Writer of music for films and numerous TV programmes and
documentaries (Jonathan Creek, Cutting Edge for C4 etc)
Former song-writer and arranger for Boy George (Culture
Club), Stevie
Wonder and many others. Director of music management company.
Four works commissioned for the millennium concert at Durham
cathedral. Julian teaches composition to selected pupils
throughout the school.

Anna Mowat graduated with first class honors from the Royal Academy of Music
in 2001 while studying with David Strange and Philip Sheppard. She went on
to complete her studies at the RAM as a postgraduate with Mats Lidstrom,
supported by the Suggia Scholarship, South Square Trust and the Martin Musical
Trust.
Anna has performed Chamber music with artists including the Jerusalem
Quartet, Clio Gould and Lydia Mordkovich. Anna has given recitals at
St-Martins-in-the-field, the Leeds Festival, and "live" on Classic
FM. She
also appears regularly at the Pump Rooms, Bath and the Rye Festival.
Anna is a member of the Alexander Piano Quartet with whom she gives regular
recitals in England including the Blackheath Halls Young Artists
Series(2001-2002) and Murten Festival, Switzerland.
Anna was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra from
1999-2003(including Principal) with whom she toured under Ashkenazy, Paavo
Jarvi, Sir Colin Davis and James Conlan.
Anna freelances in London and works regularly with The Opera Group, London
Strings(Co-Principal), Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish
National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic
Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Paul Vincent

Paul studied the piano from the age of six, and took up the violin shortly after, going on to study with the legendary pedagogue Vera Kantrovitch. Aged seventeen, Paul took up conducting and worked with many of Europe’s leading teachers including George Hurst and Diego Masson. He read music at Cambridge University, where he founded several orchestras and choirs, and was a Choral Scholar at St John’s College under George Guest. He took up singing upon graduation with the Canadian Margaret Lobo, herself a pupil of the great baritone and teacher Otakar Kraus, and later also studied under Professor Horst Gunter in Germany. After a period at the European Mozart Academy in Krakow, Paul made his professional debut in Florence. Since then, Paul has sung across Europe. He made his British debut in 1999 singing an operatic recital with his soprano wife, Agnesa Tothova, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Paul is also an experienced teacher and coach. He has taught piano, violin, singing, general music and personal development to all ages, from children as young as two up to adults. In 2002, Paul founded AHIMSA, a not-for-profit aimed at global social transformation in service of solving many of our great challenges.
